Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble is the premier wind performing group at Burlington High School. The course curriculum establishes and further develops individual practice skills and ensemble rehearsal techniques through the performance of modern wind band repertoire. The ensemble follows a course of instrumental study that equips students with the performance skills necessary to audition for ensembles at a collegiate level. The group typically performs Grade 4-5 literature.
The Wind Ensemble performs wind band, classical, chamber, and modern music literature at several concerts throughout the year, including formal Winter/Festival/Spring Concerts, Burlington's All-Town Band Concert, and various school-wide performances. The Wind Ensemble has received a 'Silver' Medal rating at the 2019 MICCA Concert Band Festival, and 'Gold' Medal ratings at the 2017 Great East Music Festival at Worcester State University, the 2018 Montreal Heritage Festival, and the 2019 Boston Heritage Festival.
Every year, several students successfully audition into and perform with MMEA Northeastern District Junior and Senior Ensembles. Members of the group also participate in regional honor bands and the MICCA Solo and Ensemble Festival.
