Symphonic Band
The Symphonic Band is primarily composed of underclassmen at Burlington High School. The course curriculum establishes and further develops individual practice skills and ensemble rehearsal techniques through the performance of modern wind band repertoire. The ensemble follows a course of instrumental study that equips students with the performance skills necessary to advance to the Wind Ensemble. The group typically performs Grade 2-4 literature.
The Symphonic Band performs wind band, classical, chamber, and modern music literature at several concerts throughout the year, including formal Winter/Festival/Spring Concerts, Burlington's All-Town Band Concert, and various school-wide performances. In 2017, the group received a 'Gold' Medal at the Great East Music Festival at Worcester State University. The Symphonic Band has received 'Silver' Medals at the 2018 Montreal Heritage Festival and the 2019 Boston Heritage Festival.
Every year, several students successfully audition into and perform with MMEA Northeastern District Junior and Senior Ensembles. Members of the group also participate in regional honor bands and the MICCA Solo and Ensemble Festival.
